Believe

Here's what I believe concerning God and the Bible:

  • The Bible is the inspired and error-free Word of God, from the first word to the last.
  • There is only one true God.  He reveals Himself as three distinct persons:   Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • I believe God the Father created the world in six 24-hour days.  I believe God created one man and one woman and that is the perfect design for marriage.
  • I believe God the Son redeemed us from our lost and sinful condition through His life and death.
  • I believe God the Holy Spirit sanctifies and keeps me in my faith.
  • All people have disobeyed God's will and deserve His punishment.  We don't get to pick-n-chose which commandments or parts o the Bible we'll believe or follow.   It's all or nothing.  Because of Adam and Eve's sin, each of us is sinful, too.
  • Without Jesus, I am helpless and lost forever.  Thank God!  He loved us so much that He sent His one and only son, Jesus Christ, to be our perfect substitute and to be punished for our sins.   When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the debt I owe(d).
  • Only by faith in the work of Jesus Christ do we become heirs of the glories of heaven.  This is a gift of God's undeserved love and not a result of our own efforts.   The "good" things I do amount to nothing unless I am doing them out of love for the Lord.
  • Faith in Jesus Christ motivates us to devote our lives in service to God and our fellow human beings.   Because I love Jesus and believe in Him and what He has done for me, I want to share His love with everyone I meet.  The Holy Spirit enables me to do this to God's glory!
  • I believe that Jesus will return again in glory to judge the Earth and all in it.   When He does He will divide the believers from the unbelievers.    We will go with Him to heaven, the unbelievers will be sent to spend eternity in hell with Satan and his demons.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Apostle's Creed is a historic statement of faith which succinctly outlines what I (as a Christian) profess to believe.   It was developed very early in the infancy of the Christian church to refute unbiblical doctrines that were arising at the time.   It is timeless and, again, states exactly what I believe:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
